Fashion Trends 2016: Shoulder Game

It’s been all about the midriff, the back, and the decolletage. Now what’s the most sensual part of your body to show off that fashion’s latest trends are dominating? It’s the shoulder! A flattering part of the body for literally anyone to show off, it’s time to show off your shoulders in a few different ways this year. The runways displayed shoulders in designs suited to any taste, so no matter how you love to dress, your shoulder game can be strong while still remaining authentic to you. We’ve found some stunning garments from the runways for you to see just how sexy showing off your shoulders can be.

X marks the spot! This is the hottest, most prominent way for one to bare her shoulders in a muted, yet somewhat seductive manner. A garment will form an x-like shape that starts just under the bust, and travels in a criss-cross fashion across the chest and up around the neck. Balmain offers up a sexy version of this trend, with an exaggerated X showing off a little bit of cleavage as well. Similarly, Bibhu Mohapatra does a brilliant multi-coloured gown with a semi-sheer cutout and X neckline. Temperly London also channels this X in a hippie’s dream maxi dress full of pattern and splashes of spring colours.

The cold shoulder has been on the back burner of fashion for a little bit, but is now ready to take its place on the centre stage of the 2016 fashion trend bandwagon. Apiece Apart makes one want to live in midi dresses for their approachability and simplicity, with their striped dress with fluttering arm detail. Halston Heritage makes one want to be a lady in lunch with their orange pattern cold shoulder top tucked into an unstructured white skirt with a high slit. A futuristic, edgy interpretation of the cold shoulder is icy and cool with Louis Vuitton’s creation.

Another player on the shoulder game is one we haven’t seen much lately other than in formal wear; the one shoulder. A varying degree of lengths can encompass one sleeve, but from one side of the clavicle to the shoulder and beyond the arm, it’s completely bare. Badgley Mischka does a light, ethereal one-shoulder gown perfect for a summer party, or even for a very simple bride. Elie Saab used a one shoulder silhouette for an asymmetrical wonder of a dress in a ravishing red colour. KLS by Kimora Lee Simmons did a grecian inspired shift that could be accessorized for day or night.

Now, are you worried about exposing your shoulders after the cold and harsh winter elements have reeked havoc on your skin? Most don’t have to worry, as there is just something about a woman’s shoulder that always looks beautiful and it is much more attractive of a body part than one might think. However, a simple sugar scrub could help wash away that dead skin and revitalize your shoulder game to make it that much stronger. For many of these off the shoulder looks, you may want to consider wearing a strapless bra, which you can find on Now That’s Lingerie with much choice in style and size.
