It’s time to start saying goodbye to summer and looking forward to Fall, with cooler temperatures and newly emerged trends. We can look to knits and jackets to keep warm, as well as some new textures that are soft and comfortable. This Fall, velvet and suede are the biggest textures that have made their way into everyday clothing, like dresses, tops, bottoms, instead of just the typical jacket or shoe we’re used to seeing. On #ShopNTL, we’ve recently updated our Fall catalogue with some luxe fabrics and more great Fall trends, and we have some advice for how to pull these trends off.

Faux suede is a soft-to-the-touch fabric that used to be a little bit stiff, but has come a long way in terms of quality. This season, the faux suede fabric is a lot thinner, making it easy to mould into gorgeous tops and easy to wear dresses. The long sleeve faux suede Lima dress by Arianne Lingerie is a dress every woman can, and should, rock this Fall, with a flattering cut that has lots of potential. This dress can go from day to night by swapping shoes and accessories, and will keep you cozy all day.
An easy addition to any wardrobe, a nice faux suede sweater like the open Lima cardigan from Arianne can just be thrown over virtually any outfit when you need a little bit more coverage. Bring it everywhere you go and when it starts to get a little bit chilly, you have an outfit with new dimension plus the function of warmth. We love it with fun dress, tights, and booties for work, or a white tank and dark denim on the weekend.

For a more luxurious or vintage inspired look, velvet is still running strong in fashion and is one of the prominent fabrics this Fall as well. Done in brilliant colours in any garment you can think of, it’s a thick fabric that can be quite warm. Velvet has been a staple in Fall and Winter fashion for a while, but before that, it was often used in formal wear. Now velvet is re-imagined in tops, dresses, blazers, and even shoes and bags. It’s a thicker fabric that is very, very warm to wear so it’s perfect for when the weather gets a little bit colder.

Velvet and faux suede definitely don’t have to be dry cleaned all of the time, but it’s very important to wash it properly. You can throw it in the wash on a delicate cycle, but in order to avoid any damage or shrinkage, it’s best to hang dry. Faux suede and velvet can be found relatively inexpensively to keep your budget in check, but you definitely don’t want to ruin it quickly by improper care.
