4 Lingerie Items We Can’t Believe Existed

Lingerie wasn’t always the luxury it is now. We have the freedom to wear lingerie as we choose, and more and more, we’re seeing lingerie designed for our comfort, for fashion, and for versatility. Lingerie used to be all about practicality, and because of that, some questionable lingerie was invented. On #ShopNTL, we love taking a look back at vintage lingerie, and while we’ve done that extensively for our #BraDoctor blog, we’ve found these 4 lingerie items we can’t believe existed.

The Nipple Bra

You know how when you get cold and are wearing no bra, or a non-padded bra, and it shows? Well, apparently, that used to be a coveted look. That’s the only explanation for the nipple bra, which was designed to appear to have nipples showing through the shirt. We can understand the sans-bra movement when the time is appropriate, but we think this is just taking that look a little bit too far.

The Old Corset Look

Corsetry is an art; corsets are now built with the ability to adjust to your personal comfort level. They are also meant to create a curvy shape, but a more natural one. It’s hard to believe that they used to be required of women to wear, and they were pulled into such constricting levels. How did women breathe back then?! We are so happy these went out of style and that it’s now a choice to rock a corset.

The World’s Shortest Nightgown

We’re not quite sure if this one is a joke or not. Essentially, the world’s shortest nightgown was an old-fashioned crop top that was marketed as a barely-there nightie. It was heavily marketed in a humorous manner, and that’s why it’s possible that it was a joke. If it wasn’t though, we can’t quite wrap our head around it.

The Vibra-Bra

Variations of this bra still exists! The claims for the vibra-bra was that the stimulation would help encourage breast growth and firmness. While we sort of understand how the “science” behind it could convince people, there’s so much more to improving the shape and firmness of the breast. We hope that too many people didn’t indulge in this bra that would only really be appropriate to wear at home.
