Winter Accessories We Love

By  |  2 Comments

The harsh Canadian winters can be extremely chilly and messy; as the beautiful white snow falls and the winds gust around, we struggle to keep our skin bundled up to maintain warmth and comfort. Old Man Winter doesn’t leave much room for us to show off our style as we have to keep covered to protect ourselves from the elements. However, we can communicate our personalities and style sense with some fun and fabulous winter accessories. Here are some quirky and trendy options we’ve found that we are loving right now!
BLANKET SCARVES

This is THE accessory to have this winter; a perfect combination of practicality and style, blanket scarves are large and thick to keep our necks and chest warm while looking super cute and effortless. We love the layered, easy look of a blanket scarf, and there are so many ways to wear them you can keep your look fresh with just one or two.

We recently tweeted this AMAZING tutorial on various ways to tie a blanket scarf by Kelly In The City that you can look at here.

VELVET

Soft to the touch and surprisingly warm, a velvet winter accessory will add a vintage glamour element to your wool coats and cozy boots this winter. You can find velvet everything; scarves, hats, gloves, and even shoes or apparel! A great place to look for velvet is a local vintage shop, although more and more contemporary stores will bring it out this coming winter. Perhaps opt for it on a day with lighter snow; wet velvet isn’t the most comfortable.

DAZZLING EARMUFFS

Earmuffs with a little sparkle and gems were all over the fashion runways this season. An earmuff is perfect for keeping your ears covered without the risk of ruining your hair, which, for us ladies heading to work or on a date, can be important. Can’t find a pair you like? Take a trip to your local craft store and DIY a unique pair for yourself!

LONG GLOVES

Perhaps to go with the cape style coat that’s always such a statement in the winter, it’s all about gloves that extend past the wrist this winter. Regardless of the style of coat you wear, a longer glove will only keep your hands and arm warmer while looking elegant. You can find these in cozy materials like cotton or wool blend, or faux furs, suedes, and leathers.
