Lust For Lace: Lingerie’s Sexiest Fabric

Trends come and go, innovation breeds change, but one thing will always remain true when it comes to lingerie; lace is synonymous with sexy. Lace has been an integral part of lingerie for decades, and it’s clear to see that this is never going to change. It’s like the denim of lingerie; it’s updated and it’s manipulated as years go by, but it’s something that women can rely on to remain classic, in style, and sexy. And so, we want to inspire you to love lace as much as we do by paying an homage to a variety of lacy lingerie styles available on Now That’s Lingerie.

One thing to keep in mind when it comes to lace lingerie; there is quite a large majority of lingerie items labelled as lace that aren’t actually lace. Real lace is a very expensive fabric, and so expect that if you want to indulge in the real thing, you are going to pay a lot of money. That being said, more inexpensive fabrics are used by many to create the look and the texture of various types of lace, so that women can enjoy the luxuriousness of lace without the heavy price tag.

Scalloped Lace Cheeky Teddy by Dreamgirl Lingerie

This very seductive teddy by Dreamgirl showcases lace made out of stretch material in such a unique design. The contrast of the black lace with the cream mesh panels is striking and modern. Scalloped lace edging, which is very popular in lingerie, is one of the most flattering details that enhances a woman’s shape, and so it’s often added to many pieces of lingerie.

Reverie Lace Hipster by Blush Lingerie

We are reminded of vintage lace with the lovely curving detail of this hipster, with faint scalloped edging surrounding the booty. The “lace” in this panty is ever so soft, with a good amount of stretch to make all-day wear easy and comfortable. Match this with one of the bras in this collection for an everyday sensual lace set.

Keyhole Balcony Lace Underwire Bra by Montelle Intimates

Here’s an example of lace overlay, often done in lingerie and showcased gorgeously in this classic design by Montelle. What this means is that lace, or lace-inspired fabric, is stretched across a pad or a piece of fabric, often to create the illusion of nothing underneath. This must-have bra is available in a few different colours, and the keyhole in the middle and scalloped lace edging are gorgeous details to love.

Alluring Underwire Bra by Triumph Lingerie

A modern interpretation of lace includes intricate lace-like embroidery with sheer mesh elements. This very architectural, modern bra uses that lace embroidery to mask the necessary parts of the breast, while the mesh allows for a shockingly sexy amount of skin to show. Aside from the design, this balconette style offers ample support with strong wiring that’s also easy to wear.

Felicity Unlined Wire Bra by Affinitas Intimates

Once again, we see lace embroidery on a stunning bra in a beautiful grey. Lace detailing on unlined or cup-free bras is extensively popular right now, and reminds us of the past when cups weren’t always essential elements of a bra. We also love the raciness of this bra with the combination of lace overlay and sheer mesh.

Beyond Love Demi Cropped Corset by Blush Lingerie

We love Blush for their lacy products, as they take inspiration from French design, and France is the absolute capital of real, authentic lace. This cropped corset with a demi cup bra is incredibly romantic, with its white lace overlay on top of a black canvas. The clean lines, the boning, and signature scalloped lace stand out in such a beautiful marriage of vintage and modern elements.

One last tip: It’s best to hand wash and hang dry lace to avoid unravelling or pulling!
