The strapless or convertible bra is a godsend for so many of our wardrobe needs. When we don’t want our straps peeking through, or we want to wear a strapless dress, they come in handy as they disappear under our clothing. On #ShopNTL you can find so many kinds of strapless and convertible bras that are seamless, moulded for extra support, and pretty to please your eye. But did you know that there are so many ways to maximize your strapless bra to make it fit better and work for more situations? We’ve collected some fantastic tips for strapless bras to make the most out of your favourite #ShopNTL styles.
The One Strap Technique
Sometimes it feels like our strapless bras like to fall, especially on a night full of dancing. If you have a convertible bra, attach one strap on the back of the bra, near the closure. Then take that strap and wrap it around the bottom of the bra where the underwire sits. Once you have it wrapped around you, hook the end of it to the bra in one of the other hook loops. This will give you extra security to make that strapless bra stay in its place.
Recycle For Your Backless Dress
This is a hack for those who have a little sewing kit or know someone who does, and LOVE a backless dress but have to wear a bra at all times. Don’t stray away from those backless numbers because you don’t want your bra to show. Take one of your old strapless bras and cut the front of the bra from the wings and the back. Sew the front part of the strapless bra into your dress. Then slip on that backless beauty and have support while leaving your back bare!
Strapless and Backless
Once again, this bra hack is a fabulous way to recycle an old strapless bra and find new uses for it, especially for backless tops and dresses. Take the old strapless bra and cut the wings and back off of it. Then, stick some velcro on the ends, and add some strands of fabric (completely of your choice and taste) that will extend to the length of your back around to the other side. You’ll have a lovely back of the bra that you will feel comfortable exposing, with the support of a strapless bra in the front!
Skip The Lotions
Once thing that can affect the staying power of a strapless bra is any oils or lotions we might wear, as they make the bras slip and slide out of place. There are many strapless bras with sticky edging, but if you don’t have one of those, ensure your skin is clean but avoid slathering on the lotion to take away some of the movability of the bra.
Play With The Size
If you tend to buy strapless bras that are the same size as your regular bras, you ay find that either the cups stick out a bit, the wings at the back slide down while the cups stay, or the underwire doesn’t seem to hug your torso. That’s because it can be easier to find the right fit by playing with your size a bit. Of course, the only way you’ll truly know is by trying it on and moving around to test it out, but some recommend going down a band size and up a cup size. You want a tight (not too tight) band because it’s your means of support, so going down may be an option for you.
