Any MTV award show calls for a more casual dress code, which means celebs feel free to show off their eclectic side!

The stars decided to take lots of fashion risks this year at the MTV VMAs, and unfortunately, much of the red carpet was underwhelming. However, a few stars dazzled us with their bold fashion choices that were fun yet still fabulous.

Perhaps one of the most buzzed-about fashion moments of the night, Lorde stunned in a light, pastel purple gown that, while it didn’t seem like something she would wear, she absolutely nailed it.

The edgy singer went soft with a fluffy feathered ballgown that fit her perfectly and looked so beautiful against her skin. Light makeup and soft curls let the gown and Lorde’s natural beauty shine through.

Why shouldn’t a star glitter?

The songwriter of the stars and singer channeled the stars in a blue ombre glitter gown by Christian Dior. We love the fit of the bustier-inspired top and how the rest just flows delicately from her body. We can only imagine how much more stunning this gown was in person!

Demi Lovato is neither afraid of celebrating her body tastefully nor making a crazy yet genius fashion choice, and her VMAs ensemble was no exception.
