Celebrities are known for pushing the envelope when it comes to fashion, and that includes showing some skin. Currently, that means more than just cleavage or leg. There’s a new type of “cleavage” that’s just as sexy; the underboob or the sideboob. That’s when the side of the breast is exposed slightly with longer armholes or cutout details, or underboob, where the bottoms of the breasts are exposed. Many of us don’t have opportunities to show skin like this in our everyday life, but perhaps you want to explore some variation of this trend on a special night out or for a sexy photoshoot. At #ShopNTL, we embrace new ways to get creative with our lingerie and being proud of our bodies! So if you want to explore any of these looks, let’s take some cues from celebrities and discuss what #ShopNTL lingerie and accessories to pair with them.
When it comes to sideboob, a little bit goes a long way. It’s a surprisingly subtle way to show a bit of skin in most cases. Elle Goulding is a great example of how to do a sideboob tastefully, with a mesh dress that has panelling that showcases a little bit of the breast while still being covered to a certain extent. Saoirse Ronan showed a little bit of elegant sideboob in a gorgeous dress at this year’s Oscars. Kate Hudson also bared a little bit of sideboob during an appearance in a bright orange outfit.
If you love the sideboob trend, chances are you’ll have to go without a bra. If you want to pull off a sideboob-inspired look but still wear a bra, consider wearing a bra with detailed wings to show off! A lot of tops and dresses are being designed with lower armholes, so it’s a lovely way to show off a little bit of your bra in a nice way while paying homage to the sideboob trend.
Showing underboob is a little bit more risque and harder to pull off unless you’re going out for a night on the town. Finding a dress with a diamond shaped cutout in the middle is probably the easiest way to show just a hint of underboob, as we can see in the case of Karlie Kloss and Shelley Hennig. Go for the dramatic, artistic detail of swirls and different directions that show just a tiny hint of sideboob like Gigi Hadid for a very understated sexy look.
Once again, there’s no bra with the underboob! However, if you’re not into this look for a night out, why not try a swimsuit? If you want to try a cutout dress for a night out, be sure to invest in some double sided tape and some nipple covers. They are an absolute must!
