Summer of ’71

As you probably realize by now I love vintage fashion photographs – and it’s great that I’m able to share them with you in my blogs. I collect old fashion magazines so I have a treasure trove of wonderful images and one of my special favorites is a Harper’s Bazaar issue from June 1971. What’s interesting about the editorial is how modern it looks! You can see definite similarities to current Spring/Summer 2011 catwalk collections (Marc Jacobs, Andrew Gn and Rebecca Taylor to name but a few). Fashion is naturally retrospective and being a designer myself, I know how inspiring and influential past decades can be. The 70’s and 80’s were seemingly “the ugly fashion years” and their resurrection has taken a while to catch on, now it looks like a trend that is firmly here – for a couple of seasons at least!
