For those of us who love celebrity fashion, the Oscars is by far one of the most anticipated nights of the year. Our beloved stars and starlets dress to the nines, knowing that what they wear is going to be talked about for weeks to come. The 2015 Oscars didn’t disappoint, as there were some bright colored gowns on the red carpet and many of our favorite celebrities looked amazing as always in some stunningly designed gowns and suits.
Best Dressed: Naomi Watts
With the high neckline, sexy cut outs, and unique print, Naomi Watts’ Armani gown was definitely one of the hottest gowns on the red carpet this year. What’s lovely about Watts’ choice is that it was risky, but it worked very well. Many starlets stay away from prints and play it relatively safe with classic designs, but Watts’ gown was striking, and the dark plum lip brought the cool look to another level.
Best Dressed: Rosamund Pike
Rosamund Pike’s custom Givenchy gown was one of the most talked-about looks from the Oscars this year. For someone who recently gave birth, this form-fitting red gown with naked lace inserts showcases a very trim body. She kept her hair and makeup simple to not overpower the look, as the dress has a lot of stunning detail. Pike looked absolutely beautiful and glowing in this sightly gown.
Best Dressed Male: Common
Navy is a colour trend in men’s suits this season, and we saw many actors and performers showcase this neutral, including Common in Prada. Common’s look stands out because he did the trend in a velvet blazer, which pays homage to the old Hollywood glamour that the Oscars can remind us of. Not only did he look sharp and handsome all night, but he gave a brilliant performance later in the evening that left many in tears.
Best Dressed Couple: Robert and Luciana Duvall
Although there were many dashing young couples at the Oscars, Robert and Luciana Duvall stood out among them. Robert Duvall charmed in a classic black Ermenegildo Zenga tux, but added a modern slim tie. His wife, Luciana, wore a sensational peach Elie Saab gown with a plunging neckline and lots of sparkles. They both looked youthful and happy, although many are just talking about how J.Lo wore the same dress.
Worst Dressed: Lady Gaga
The custom Azzedine Alaia gown that Lady Gaga wore was a bit overpowering on Gaga’s slight frame. It wasn’t necessarily appropriate for a formal evening such as the Oscars. If Gaga left the striking red gloves at home, perhaps she could have stayed off of this list. However, after the beautiful homage she paid to The Sound of Music last night, she could have worn a plastic bag and everyone would still just remember how truly talented the singer is.
