Fashion’s Night Out

On September 8th, 2011 Fashion’s Night Out celebrated it’s 3rd anniversary.

In case you are not familiar with Fashion’s Night Out, let me give you a quick run down: it is an after hours shopping extravaganza. Over 250 cities across the United States participated in this event, along with 1000 retailers in New York City. Fashion’s Night Out has even been promoted by online stores and stores within Canada.

Fashion’s Night Out is sponsored by Vogue Magazine and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), as an initiative to encourage people to shop during the slow economy. It allows retailers to keep their doors open after normal business hours and gives them the opportunity to host an evening of music, drinks, sweepstakes, appearances, photos and fashion.

Fashion’s Night Out draws some of fashion’s biggest stars like, Anna Wintour (Vogue Editer in Chief), Kim Kardashian, Sarah Jessica Parker and even Justin Bieber. It’s a night to celebrate all things fashion.

Thousands of consumers and industry professionals flooded the streets of New York City for Fashion’s Night Out, but what were some of the hottest spots? After doing some research I found out that there seemed to be a lot of talk around two different locations.

The first being Manolo Blahnik, where Sex & The City’s real life Carrie, Sarah Jessica Parker, was signing autographs and shoes from the collection she co-designed with Manolo Blahnik.

The second was Kim Kardashian’s store Dash, where Jersey Shore’s DJ Pauly D was in the house to spin some tunes. The party at Dash was so big it ended the night being shut down by some New York Police Officers.

Fashion’s Night Out has an open invitation. Anyone can attend there is no age restriction and no need to be part of an exclusive club. It is open to the public and is about seeing the fashion, the shopping and promotions for Fall.
