Bra shopping sure isn’t rocket science, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be hard!
If you follow these five tips to have a successful bra shop, we’re sure you’re going to be much, much happier with your choices and feel much, much better about how your bras feel!
Remember, if you have a hard time knowing what styles work for you or face any other issues bra shopping, our Bra Doctor can help you!
Fit Yourself Before Getting Fitted
This may sound silly, but hear us out.
If you have an idea of what size you are before getting fitted by someone else, you can decipher which bra fitters do or don’t know what they’re doing. Being more aware of your body will help you weed out those who don’t want to truly help you.
It’s also a good idea to look at what size you’re wearing NOW and if those bras work for you. If you find the back band is riding up, you may have to go up a band size… and so on.
Grab A Couple Of Sizes
Just because you measure out as a 40DD, it doesn’t mean every bra in that size will fit you.
Grab the smaller or bigger size, or look for your sister sizes to try as well. Knowing your sister sizes is crucial to a good lingerie shop! Find out how to know here.
Try It With A T-Shirt
You shouldn’t just go with how the bra looks in the mirror to see how it fits you.
You’re (most likely) wearing your bra under clothes, so don’t you want to know how the bra will look under clothes?
A t-shirt is a great thing to wear when bra shopping because you can see more fit issues under a shirt. For example, is your bra creating back boobs? Maybe your cups don’t hug your breasts like it should?
Know The Return Policy
No matter if you’re shopping in a store or online, you should know the company’s return policy to see if it works for you. Maybe you don’t feel like trying on the bra (see below), or you just can’t because the bra is online.
This way, you can try on the bra at home and do some bra fitting tests, and bring it back if it doesn’t work.
Go When You Feel Good
If you go bra shopping when you’re feeling insecure, when you’re sick, when you’re bloated, etc., you just won’t have a good time.
Lingerie shopping isn’t easy for everyone, regardless of their size. When you’re in a headspace where you’re just not loving your body, trying on lingerie may make you feel worse.
Instead, leave the bra shopping until you are feeling good about your body or you’ve practiced some self care.
